… And she broke the shackles of ‘social image’ ascending to a wonderful sense of freedom and self confidence!

Weekend dinner started with an Achilles heel – literally ! When the heel of her dainty sandal ditched her. What a catastrophic moment that can be for a woman dressed perfect for a dinner with a girl pal (me)! The hugs ended up in a wail- ful story looking for a makeshift arrangement with flip flops in the nearby multipurpose convenience store (do they even have these on the shelves???)

We struggled to pull the other heel out of desperation, but the glue performed its job loyally and our effort, tactic and strength was all in vain. So I told her to jilt the footwear instead. ‘Define your status and style, they will look at your wild hair and dazzling smile, and be in awe why you walk with such confidence bare feet’ I dared and coaxed! Surely the exclusive restaurant was not going to deny us food, if she entered bare feet!

And she did it!

Chinned up, she rose above the shallow waters to the realm of new found sense of secure authority. I knew if she enjoyed this dinner (without those sandals and the jilted feeling) she would know she could overcome anything in the world!

Not only was our heart- to-heart conversation as engaged as ever, the food n drink at this famous Chinese plush restaurant was supreme, and the evening catching up hit on every score count.

I guess, it is only for us to outline what and how we want the world to see us. We define our worth and claim the freedom we need. And we know best where our limits lie. But once we trust ourselves to transcend those barriers, we can fly…
